Michael P. Falzone - Attorney

 

Michael Falzone is a partner in the Litigation Section of the firm. His practice focuses principally on bankruptcy and creditors' rights, workouts and distressed debts and securities litigation. He has obtained both jury and non-jury trial experience and has handled complex litigation involving creditors' rights, lender liability, antitrust matters, securities matters and civil rights claims.

Relevant Experience:

  • Represented numerous landlords and other creditors in major Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, including Movie Gallery and Circuit City.
  • Represented a Fortune 100 hospitality company in connection with a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding.
  • Represented a major financial institution in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding involving application of Virginia nursing home laws and regulations.
  • Represented a California law firm in the A.H. Robins Chapter 11 bankruptcy case, resulting in full recovery of the law firm's claim on appeal.
  • Represented the Resolution Trust Corporation on its claim against a borrower arising out of the default of a loan, resulting in a federal trial and a judgment of nearly $1.3 million that was ultimately affirmed on appeal.
  • Represented a Fortune 500 corporation in the defense of claims made by a mortgage corporation, which involved a six-day jury trial.
  • Served as arbitrator and mediator for Prudential Securities class action settlement.
  • Represented a Virginia state agency in defending numerous 42 U.S.C. 1983 and land use claims requiring extensive federal practice at both the trial and appellate levels.
