July 7, 2004 CHAMBERS AND PARTNERS RECOGNIZES HIRSCHLER FLEISCHER
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Richmond, Va., August 9, 2004 -- In its second annual survey of the U.S. legal market on a state-by-state basis, the highly respected research organization Chambers and Partners has accorded Hirschler Fleischer the highest possible marks in the Virginia-Real Estate category in the latest edition of Chambers USA - America's Leading Business Lawyers. The publication recognized Jay Weinberg, Jim Theobald and Mike Terry for their excellence in real estate law and Rick Witthoefft for his excellence in litigation.
In the category Virginia-Real Estate, Chambers USA says the following about Hirschler Fleischer:
"This 17-attorney team focuses on areas such as commercial leasing, land use, securities, real estate finance and the development of commercial and residential projects. It is one of the clear leaders in the state, and is known in the market for its involvement "in the most high-profile real estate developments, transactions and financings." Sources attribute its success to its long history in the sector, superb connections and its team of "excellent and highly principled practitioners."
"Jay Weinberg is recognized as the "dean of land use lawyers" in the state." "Highly dexterous" Mike Terry is a "top-class" commercial real estate attorney, according to commentators. He works on retail and office leasing and development projects for property owners and developers. More recently his practice has evolved to include advising financial institutions and investors on the sale and purchase of loan portfolios. According to interviewees, James Theobald is "great to deal with and highly active in the real estate arena."
Jim Theobald continues to be involved in the metropolitan area's largest land use matters including those on behalf of Ukrop's Supermarkets, Reynolds Development Corp., Ethyl Corp., Gumenick Properties, HHHunt and Highwoods.
Chambers USA also noticed the litigation section and Charles F. "Rick" Witthoefft and other Hirschler Fleischer attorneys for their exceptional work in their respective practices.
"At this firm, clients are offered "good value, and down-to-earth attorneys." With its wide experience, the team here was warmly praised for "doing a fabulous job and going the extra mile." It comes highly recommended for real estate-related litigation, such as land use and zoning, as well as securities litigation, antitrust, bankruptcy and contractual disputes."
"Charles Witthoefft advises on a variety of contentious matters across the state, doing so "with the highest integrity," according to interviewees. He was said to be a good choice for business torts, securities disputes, employment litigation and antitrust."
Chambers USA - America's Leading Business Lawyers, the groundbreaking ranking guide of lawyers in the USA, published its first edition in 2003. For the 2004-2005 edition, Chambers interviewed 4,500 clients and attorneys to identify the best practitioners in all the main areas of business law. The results are compiled into tables which rank the leading law firms and individuals based on technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by the client. The rankings and editorial comments about attorneys are independent and objective. Inclusion in the guide is based solely on the findings of the Chambers research team. No one can "buy their way in."
